Video 1
1.What messages do the images give?
The images have a message of living off of the land and a general feeling of the desire to spend time in nature + with people on the same wavelength as you.
2.What about his narrative inspires you?
His narrative inspires me because he knew what he wanted and went for it, he didn’t make a fear based decision.
3. In a few sentences explain if this is appealing or not as career choice/lifestyle.
It’s a career choice that definitely isn’t for everyone, but I think it’s a beautiful way of living. Living a nomadic lifestyle and spending time in nature and with people who help you grow is hard to put a negative spin on. Overall, it would be difficult at times but it seems like it would be good for the soul.
4.This is an exmple of a documentary film. If you were to make a short film, what topics would you would like to explore?
If I were to make a short film I would like to explore nature, human connection, music, solving climate change through veganism and other environmental topics.
5.Give specific examples of the imagery from the film that really tells the subtle aspects of the topic. List all that you noticed.
There was subtle imagery such as lots of nature, candids of people just being in nature, usually surfing, and the van in different places.
Video 2
-
Mark Dumbleton’s photo was an above angle view of mountains in Asia, and the impact on me was peaceful, like I was pulled into this quiet mountainside.
-
Adriana Basque’s image was of manta rays in the ocean, a couple of them with their mouths open like they were looking for food. The impact this has is lulling and almost hypnotizing.
-
Will Burrard-Lucas has a sunset photo a of a lion. You can only see the outline of the lion on the Savannah, but I think that makes the impact better because you feel the energy of the lion and the environment more than being distracted by a detailed picture of the lion.
-
Michael Levy’s photo is of two moose bumping noses, almost like a kiss. It’s very cute and gives one a warm feeling.
-
Anup Shah’s photo is of a crocodile in the middle of a river surrounded by elk or antelopes or something of that sort. It is jumping into the air like it’s trying to catch one of the antelopes. The impact makes your heart race in a nervous way.
-
Doc White took a photo of a whale. It’s a little blurry and was probably very hard to capture. It has Moana vibes, impact makes me want to go swimming in Hawaii.
-
Jeremy Goodhouse’s photo is of the australian coast, and it’s very beautiful / dreamy. It’s during a lightning storm / sunset and is very pretty
-
Kevin Schafer’s photo is the outline of someone in a tent that looks as if it has native american origins. The person has their arms open and seems to be doing a tribal dance, under the northern lights. It’s probably my favorite photo 10/10
